60's Inspired

I picked out Popart as my 60's inspiration, specifically Andy Warhol. I cut out four pieces of coloured card, then stamped the same image in different coloured inks on each piece to create the effect.

The stamp is a Banana Frog one from the funky flowers set, cardstock off cuts from my stash and a bit of Love Elsie Roxie tiny ribbon.

My DMCers dare go for this week! Make a card with some text in it somewhere. So I picked out some Elsie paper with printed text on, jammed it together with a bit of Scenic Route paper (which also has some text in!!) some cardboard, a Papermania silk flower and a bit of Elsie fabric in a heart shape. Ded simps!! :-D

I've also made an owl template from my last card for Gillian and anyone else if you want it, watch out for that book in stores soon......... lol!

My birdy's too Beadilicous

Finished my DMC dare at last! This one is getting beads in to your card. I'm not sure if the card works or not but I'll keep playing with it. The gimmie a hoot thing is like just saying hi or whatever but I keep thinking it's I don't give a stuff, give a hoot so I'm not sure if it works as a sentiment, (in my head anyway!) but it works with the owl. I like the idea of sewing the seed beads on the felt though so I'll have to play about with the idea, maybe pick some beads that are a like colour or little crystally ones, I've got enough seed beads to play with anyway, those things get all over the place don't they? Or is that just me too! lol xx Leo

Tied up with ribbon

Been busy this week making DT stuff for Ribbon Oasis so I'll have to share this for now then I'm having a go at the DMCers beads challenge, it's on my to do list!! :-D

I had this clothes tag on my desk for an age, it's fabric and made to look kind of vintage I wanted to pick out another different kind of packaging too so I dug out the old post mark that was part of an old stamp collection I bought (to use for cards, not really into stamp collecting lol). The post mark is from Honolulu, Hawaii dated December 1971, I think it's really cool! That inspired me to pick out the funky Hawaii shirt style papers (they're A-Z papers, really lush) and I used some Kraft Bazzill cardstock, wet and rolled the edges to try and make it look like an old package. The message I printed on some ribbon and sewed it to the clothes tag like a kind of luggage label? I fixed the card together with staples painted to look all rusty and old.

Such a Bird, DMC Little Extra

My go at the little extra DMC dare where we have to use the word 'fabulous' somewhere on a card.
The card is part of a set I've been making all with funny birds on I've called 'Such a bird'.

I sketch out the birds on Bazzill cardstock, add a bit of colour and pattern with Galaxy marker pens then doodle over the top and cut out. It's funny how addictive they are to make!

Mmmmmm Boss

First of all thank you so much for inviting me along to be a guest designer DMCers had mega fun playing with my card.

With the embossing theme for this weeks dare I headed off to seek out my heat gun and got stuck into some triple embossing.

I inked up a piece of card and sprinkled on some Ranger Magenta colour embossing powder, heated up then sprinkled on another layer, heated up, then another layer, heated up again. Then I inked over the top again and sprinkled on some Ranger Turquoise colour embossing powder and heated up. I then inked up my cute ice cream cone stamp and squished it in the powder, you have to leave it in there a few seconds, then walla!

I made a felt frame for my main embellie then picked out some Bazzill cardstock and Love Elsie Betty papers, few bits of felt flowers and a crochet one and a bit of ribbon to make up the card. Then finished it off with a bit of doodling.

We Have Lift Off!

Well this week is just going by in a blurrrr. And what's up with the weather? No lovely summery sunny June, just lots of doom and gloom
and sloshy rain :(

Anyhoo onto pressing matters, the darey warey DMC fun! This week we've been told to look to the stars for inspiration and this is what I came up with, a rocket ship shooting up to the stars! It's made with a template, one I designed myself a while ago for Crafty Templates. It's 3D and slots together to stand up. I've decorated it with glitter card, lots of glitter came off all over me so I had an evening of, "you've got glitter on you did you know" but without glitter life would be very dull, and far less sparkly..........

Lovin the Love Elsie stuff, mines looking a bit peeky now it's all cut into and packets opened but I'm enjoying the fruits of my couple hours play this weekend........

Better late than never

I did do my DMC dares last week {honest miss} but just never got round to doing the piccys then it was Friday before I knew it and bam another dare to drool over so now I'm posting the new one and the ones from last week all together!


There's the working 9-5 one (orange and black one) and the black and a colour, (I did black and pink). They're well done for getting through it exam ones.



Then there's this weeks which is the use something 'see through' on your card one. I used a Heidi Swapp transparent daisy sticker thingy and some MME Barefoot birthday stuff.....

Right I'm off to play now sun's gone in so I've got my crafty gear out and am about to cut into my new goodies.....................

I've had a hard week so I deserve it, if I do say so myself. :D I'll come back and show what I've made if any one's interested.

Little bit extra

Really should be getting on with work but I decided to make a card instead! :p

I used papers printed from a digi kit from Create My Keepsake some Papermania silk flowers and brads, index tab thingy is Making Memories and a few buttons from my box.

Loopy

DMC Dare this week, make a card using no pre made embellishments...

This was sooo difficult I kept having to check myself when I went to reach for a bit of ribbon or a button. I ended up raiding my off cuts, doodled some swirly bits on them and cut them out, made an arrow the same way. I stamped the bit at the top and printed out the other bit.

Still think it needs ribbon though, lol!

Ribbon Goodies

Thought I'd show off my DT Creations, 1. because I love the kit Bea sent to bits and 2. because I love the kit Bea sent to bits!

Clock, made with Urban Lily paper (Cheeky MayElla collection) Making Memories chipboard and ribbon from the mono kit. I got the clock bit from ebay (99p bargain! :D). Just make it up like a LO, I used a Pizza box base for the back of mine, covered with black card and edged with ribbon but you could use something like MDF too, drill a hole for the clock bit to go through. stick it in and you're away!

This is the tin from the kit I've covered with some funky patterned paper, (paper reminded me of Benefit stuff, of which I have a load, just because I like the packaging!) painted pink and filled with nail files (I made from chipboard, cover one side with fine grain sandpaper and the other with patterned paper) and hair elastics, just shop bought ones I've tied ribbon round.

Wooden hangers from IKEA, the pink one I've painted and stamped with the Technique Tuesday Swiss Dot stamp and decorated with the chipboard bit from the kit, buttons and a letter sticker. The other one I painted cream and covered the front with Scenic Route papers, a blossom and vintage button.

Sketch book for layout sketches, all the little tags I've used as index tabs, so I can quickly flick to 8x8's 12x12 etc.

And a thank you tag for Bea, just a bit different to a card, you can hang them up in your crafting space (or who you send them to can, lol :D)

You can get the mono kit right now here, 100% recommended, (especially as there's a TDF 1inch wide chunky polka dot double sided one in there that's just delishness!!).

Junk Food Tree

It's food themed fun on the menu this week at the DMC dares HQ. I made a load of Fimo food a while back for another project and had lots left over so I got it all out and this idea just came to me, no idea why lol. It's a genetically modified junk food tree. Maybe we'll have them in the future, who knows lol. It'll be perfect for my bros birthday, coming up in a few weeks time. All the food I've made from Fimo and the tree is card and K& Co and Basic Grey patterned papers.

Think I might do another different one before the end of the week (got lots more food left over). :D

The DMC dare this week is to create a card with a wingy theme so I picked out some birdy papers to use from Sassafras Lass and Urban Lily. (top one is urban Lily bottom one is Sassafras Lass.

DMC Goodiness

Being back playing along with the DMC dares feels fabby, especially when I have new ribbons to play with!!! :D

Love the template so I did a couple. I used Scenic Route and Circus Rose papers, ribbons from Ribbon Oasis a bit of blingy Bazzill bling, Heidi Swapp brads, fabric, cardboard, stamps and a MME rub on.

You need hands...........

And you need to do the hand BOM challenge on Kirsty's blog.

It's so much fun to do, it's something that will be weird and amazing for your family to look back on and if you haven't started one yet it's the perfect opportunity to start your book of me (me being you if you get me). DCM - Randomisity (?)

This sounded like so much fun when I read it this morning I wanted to play straight away! I dropped everything else (that I should be doing) and did the challenge instead!
Ok so, write down 10 bits of crafty stash and put them in a hat (in this case a coffee pot, it was just what I had to hand it's in the process of being altered for a gift so was on my desk and it's cute :D)

Get a non crafty person to draw out 5 things (that looks posed because his jumper matches the pot but that was just pot luck :D)

I'm Going Lolly Mad!

This week has been a bit of a blur but when I have found time to indulge in a bit of crafty ness all I can think about this week are lollipops and ice cream! I think it all started off on Monday when I got my hands on some of the lush new Sassafras Lass Serendipity Scrumptious papers, with names like 'Raspberry Ripple' how can I not think of ice cream? They're lush and weirdly remind me of my childhood, taking trips to the seaside, getting huge Knickerbocker Glories and ice cream floats from the Milk Bar in Brid. It's the colours that set me off the pink, red and turquoise. It's probably something to do with the 50's style ice cream Parlor that was the Milk Bar at Brid but the colour combination of pink, minty turquoise, cream and red just scream ice cream and seaside to me! That train of thought kicked off a layout I'm currently working on (currently being right at this moment) about smells that remind me of the seaside. But before that it was all about lollys! These lollys in particular are ribbon lollys, a bit of a daft idea I made up as a different way of storing my ribbons! To me they look scrumilicous but that's a problem because now how on earth can I dismantle them to actually use the ribbon??

I've not done the main cardmakers dare, I was just sitting, thinking what my comfort zone is and I just can't figure it out, I'm happy doing craft full stop so? I did think about just having white card and a pen so I'm devoid of all colour and pattern but I would be pretty comfortable with that too ( I studied illustration for a little bit so love pen and ink drawing!). So anyway like I said no idea what out of my comfort zone would be so I've done the mid week dare instead! :p. Used three ribbons, three patterned papers and 3 buttons! Thanks for the challenge!
